FAQs

What is the average age group for this class?

This course has already been a great help to upper elementary through middle schoolers. Though older students will enjoy writing a story just the same! Writing is something learned over and over, as practice makes perfect. Younger students will encounter newer things, and older students learn to look at things in new and memorable ways, scaling and going deeper. Each student chooses his or her own story to write, scaling it to a personal vocabulary and style level.

What if I have more than one student joining? (siblings for example)

Each purchase of the live course is for just one student. Email me at nicole@showmethenotes.com and I’ll get you set up for siblings so they can participate on Zoom.

What if I need to miss a class?

All live sessions will be recorded and posted on your class course page along with handouts. These will remain available for the remainder of the course, so you never have to worry!

Has this course been taught before?

Yes! I have been teaching and tutoring writing for years, and have developed some fun and creative ways to help students enjoy writing. This particular stories course has successfully been taught with great reviews and recommendations to friends and family.

How can this program work with another writing course I have already taken?

In my experience, variety is the spice of life! Where one course leaves off, another can fill in. I developed this course after seeing my own kids and students pause during timed writing prompts. Even after having gone through another fabulous writing course, they still needed to wrap their heads around formulating ideas quickly, creatively, and in an organized manner. This course has helped them see a prompt for what it's worth and tackle it successfully with added style. It is always great to review and practice things in different ways!

Contents are posted each week after class :)
