FAQs

What is the average age group for this class?

This course is great for upper elementary through middle school. Writing is something learned over and over, as practice makes perfect. Younger students will encounter newer things, and older students learn to look at things in new and memorable ways, scaling and going deeper. Each student chooses his or her own story to write, scaling it to a personal vocabulary and style level.

What if I have more than one student joining? (siblings for example)

Each purchase of the live course is for just one student. Email me at nicole@showmethenotes.com and I’ll get you set up for siblings so they can participate on Zoom.

What if I need to miss a class?

All live sessions will be recorded and posted on your class course page along with handouts. These will remain available for the remainder of the course, so you never have to worry!

How are assignments reviewed?

Your writing assignments will be emailed to me and   I will send back positive and helpful editing comments. Editing is a great thing to do to help build your writing portfolio! (I can review 1 assignment per lesson per paid course. For additional papers, please email me at nicole@showmethenotes, and we'll arrange it.)

How can this program work with another writing course I have already taken?

In my experience, variety is the spice of life! Where one course leaves off, another can fill in. I developed Diamond in the Rough Draft after seeing my own kids and students pause during timed writing prompts. Even after having gone through another fabulous writing course, they still needed to wrap their heads around formulating ideas quickly, creatively, and in an organized manner. This course has helped them see each new writing assignment as something they can tackle successfully with added style. It is always great to review and practice things in different ways!

Contents will be posted after each class :)
